Dear Family of Rotary,

Knowing how to read and write can transform a person’s life. These basic skills, which so many of us take for granted, can mean a job, an income, and hope for a better future for those who are struggling to break the cycle of poverty...

Ann's Corner

Women’s Month/ World Rotaract Month

“A woman is like a teabag. You will never know her strength until you drop her in hot water.”

“Mulieres fortes” strong women trying to make difference in the world and taking responsibility for change and renewal of life.

Last February 24, we were given the pleasure of celebrating the 86th birthday of Tita Tata Noble, a strong woman herself, who was once an active and outstanding Rotary Ann of her time. Her hairs are now silver, her eyesight not that bright anymore, and smile faintly when she hears a familiar name. It was a fulfilling mission engaged by the Anns on this special day. Tita Tere, Nanay Nitz, Diva, Biema, Aida, Sarah, Pam, Lorie and I took time out to be with Tita Tata. Her children were grateful, and happy with our visit. It was a simple act of compassion that made a big impact on the family.

Often we face and meet all kinds of difficulties as we begin to venture into something we feel would make vast impact on the looming crisis and the hardship our country is experiencing now. This is a very daunting task to consider but a fulfilling one once we accept and respond to the challenges presented to us. We may never be Gabrielas, Melchoras, Josefas, Corazons and Mother Theresas in our lifetime, but we can be our own true and real self by just being present in whatever opportunities given to serve and to be counted. We hope to advance in age trying and hoping to make difference and become instruments of change affecting our lives.

As for accomplishments, just do what you have to do as things come along.
