Rotary Club of CDO in April: Magazine Month
Communication is an important factor for any community endeavor to be successful. In order to live up to the Rotarian call of “Service above self,” it is important to be constantly aware of what’s happening not only in your own community but also in others.
The Rotary Club International and its subordinate districts all over the world recognize the importance of keeping in touch with one another as they all strive towards common goals of goodwill. In April, the Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro is one with the Rotary Club International in its celebration of Magazine Month in April.
Rotary World Magazine Press: Heralding News From Around the World
The Rotary World Magazine Press is composed of the Rotary Club International’s main publication, “The Rotarian,” and 31 other regional magazines from around the world. Some of the most popular regional titles are “Rotary Down Under” in Australia, new Zealand and the South Pacific Islands; “Brasil Rotario” in Brazil; and “Rotary Canada,” which is a quarterly publication in addition to “The Rotarian.”
Produced in 25 languages with circulation in more than 130 countries, it is through these magazines that Rotarians around the world become aware of the activities of the other Rotary districts.
Why Celebrate April Magazine Month?
Rotarians celebrate Magazine Month to recognize the important role of magazines in keeping each member aware and well informed about the world he lives in. Through this celebration, Rotarians are able to exchange ideas and encourage sponsors for their respective concerns and goals in their own communities.
Las Vegas’ former Rotary Club President Richard Peterson once said, “An informed Rotarian will be a more effective Rotarian.” As a member of the local and international community and as a Rotarian, social awareness is a responsibility that must be taken seriously.
